Leírás

For a chaotic dynamical system, important properties can be deduced from
the spectrum of a natural dynamical operator acting on a suitable
function space.
The problem is that, with the exception of some trivial examples, these
spectra are totally non-explicit, even in the case of the most
well-behaved chaotic examples, Anosov maps of the torus!
In this talk, I will describe joint work with Mark Pollicott to extend
and simplify the classes of explicit examples, building on and
simplifying the work of others.
The question of "who cares?" will also be addressed if there is time.
