Abstract:
The talk is based on joint work with Alexander Guterman and László Márki.
Constructing a ring of quotients consists in assigning inverses to
certain elements. This procedure can be carried out, more generally,
by considering generalized inverses like Moore-Penrose or group
inverses. Many classical inverses are particular cases of inverses
along an element, which is a class of outer inverses equipped with a
parameter.
We introduce a general notion of a quotient ring which is based on
inverses along an element. We show that, on the one hand, this notion
encompasses quotient rings constructed using various generalized
inverses. On the other hand, such quotient rings can be viewed as
Fountain-Gould quotient rings with respect to appropriate subsets.
