Tóthmérész Lilla: The sandpile group and matroids

Abstract:

The sandpile group is an Abelian group defined for a graph, but it can also be defined for (orientable) matroids. There are many beautiful results about sandpile groups and planar duality that suggests that the matroid language is useful for sandpile groups. However, the matroid case has a lot of open questions. I will tell some of these.
