Inaugural László Fejes Tóth Lecture

László Lovász : Graphs, Polytopes and Spectra

After the death of Alfréd Rényi, from 1970 to 1983, László Fejes Tóth served as the second director of the Mathematical Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. László Fejes Tóth was a world class mathematician, the founding father of the theory of Packing and Covering, an important branch of Discrete Geometry, with many applications in coding theory, number theory, group theory, and other disciplines.
His classic monograph "Lagerungen in der Ebene, auf der Kugel und im Raum" was published by Springer in 1953. Its annotated English edition, the work of Gábor Fejes Tóth and Wlodzimierz Kuperperg, was published exactly 70 years after the first edition, in 2023.
