Paul Ellis (Manhattanville College): Sona: Sona: Sand Drawings from Central Africa

The Chokwe people of central Africa have a deep storytelling tradition that involves intricate sand drawings. We will investigate some of the surprising geometry of these drawings. In the spirit of BSM, I will ask the audience to make their own conjectures and proofs. We will also discuss some accessible open problems.
