The Lendület programme, launched in 2009 by József Pálinkás, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, is an outstandingly important research funding scheme of the Academy. Initially only research institutes of the MTA were eligible to apply, but later it was extended to universities and other research institutions. The Rényi Institute has been a successful participant in the programme since its inception, and Gábor Tardos was one of the five winners in 2009.
András Gilyén is about to start the 12th Lendület research group at the institute, his research topic being quantum generalisations of Markov chain and Monte Carlo methods.
We congratulate him and wish him a successful international research career!
